Why Aluminum?

Niche is located in the city of Vancouver, British Columbia, where the ocean and the environment are integral to our livelihood. Therefore, keeping both the environment and our oceans clean is on our hearts at Niche.

For this reason, we identify with the missions of organizations like Oceana and  Greenpeace, and we want to do our part to keep our oceans free from plastic and debris. Every year, over 1,000,000 sea birds and 100,000 mammals and sea turtles die due to plastic in our oceans

The Pacific Ocean is now home to “The Great Pacific Garbage Patch,” a patch of floating plastic reported to be somewhere between the size of Texas to the size of the USA.

This has to stop, and the only way it will is if we use less plastic. So, why aluminum? Aluminum can be recycled endlessly, whereas even recyclable plastic has a limit to how many times it can be recycled before it ends up in a landfill, ocean, park, or animal’s stomach.

Aluminum is valuable, and highly sought after by recyclers and therefore even if it is thrown on the street, it will not lay there for long before someone picks it up for the recycle value.

As a packaging material aluminum is excellent, since it does not rust like metal does, and is more sturdy than plastic. We at Niche hope you will see the value of aluminum in a day when we all must change our old ways and look for better ways to live on this planet we’ve been entrusted with.
